Generation F

I just saw this term from an online article differentiating the Facebook Generation from the generation which grew up on print and the other so called Gen X and Gen Y's. So, Generation F is the generation which is growing up or will grow up with Facebook. Indeed, this new generation that will grow up with social media will have a whole slew of opportunities ahead of them. This new medium has created opportunities for personal branding . In this article from Fastcompany.com you are introduced to people who have grown very popular through social media and has since built their business around their popularity.

One of the personalities on the article is Gary Vaynerchuk. I first saw his talk on TED.com and I found it very interesting and inspirational. Here's his talk:

I followed him to a certain extent on the web an I found out that he already has an online agency, Vayner Media. He's just one example of one person whose persona has grown because of the internet.

This phenomenon is not isolated in the US but there's a lot of sample here as well. I'll list down a few here:

1. Janette Toral - created DigitalFilipino.com and is one of the biggest online personalities in the Philippines. If I'm not mistaken she an online marketing consultant and a professor of digital marketing as well.

2. Anton Diaz - creator of OurAwesomePlanet.com and has since evolved to  become one of the more dynamic netreprenuers in the country

3. Carlo Ople - started with his blog about online marketing NewMedia.com.ph and has since also started his online agency.

It;s truly the younger set who has taken full advantage of social media. Here are a few who has a huge following on their social media sites:

1. Alodia Gosengfiao
2. Tricia Gosingtian

With Generation F and the dynamics of the web and social media changes in the workplace and management are abound and this article outline these.

Pekiti Tersia Kali, the Filipino Combat System

Pekiti Tersia Kali is the Filipino combat system. It's one of our least known cultural exports in the world. Apparently it's used by a lot of foreign military groups as part of their hand to hand training.

Infographic: A brief history of the internet

Tips on digital marketing and then some...

Here's some tips I found on the need to help plan out your digital strategy:

1. HOW TO: Optimize Your Social Media Marketing Strategy from Mashable.com
2. What companies should look for when hiring a social media consultant from Smartblogs.com
3. 7 A/B Testing Resources from Mashable.com - here's something which is not a standard practice locally which I'd like to implement on our future projects especially if it's a website that has a goal to get conversion.

On a personal development/entrepreneurial note here's a must read:  DON'T WORK. BE HATED. LOVE SOMEONE. - I think I just got 1 out of 3 at the moment. I think there are people who don't like me but not enough to be hated.

Infographic: How the internet works

If you've noticed I've put a lot of infographic posts lately. It seems that the internet age has transformed people to become more visual. Instead of simply making graphs to show data infographics was created to make it easier to understand.
