Video: Word of Mouth and the Internet

Here's a video from Google emphasizing the importance of search. According to them, even with all the hype of social media search still plays an important role. After hearing the brand through word of mouth, or by whatever channel, people would tend to do searches to get more information. I agree though. I think digital agencies downplay the power of search and SEO in their strategy and rely too much on social media and their glamorous online advertising strategies. SEO and search is a down and dirty but effective strategy to help brands online.

Infographic: Why Medicine Costs So Much

Always ask for the generic brand. Generic medicine Ibuprofen is branded as Advil and Medicol here - I used to buy Advil only to realize that Medicol is the same. Advil costs almost 3x as much. I always have these ready since I sometimes get a headache so I always buy a 'banig' - it's P45 for Medicol 10pcs.

Video: Online translated to the real world

Infographic: How We Use Our Brains

If I remember correctly this is the 2nd infographic I posted which features a movie. The first infographic I posted about a movie was  Fast and the Furious. I guess infographics will now be part of the marketing propaganda for movies. It an interesting way to promote movies though it provides readers with good trivia.
Apparently this was released last March. Still adds to the promotion though.

Video | Muhammad Yunus: The Social Business Model

His social business model is different but in the end of the day as long at it helps the poor I guess it will work. In his model they simply invest to start it and once they get a return they simply get it back. In the social enterprise models I've seen here everybody including the owners should earn a profit. It's still a business after all. The business should contribute to the community where it is based and make the people from the community earn from the business and the investors should also earn as well as long as the business continues.

The Coral Triangle

Coral poaching has been big in the news lately and as a diver who has seen how these sensitive reefs gets damaged by little changes in the environment this really hits you in the gut. A few years back when I started diving I saw a beautiful reef change for the worse due to changes in the climate. I think it's called coral bleaching. It took several years for the beautiful soft coral to get back it's luster. I think it took about 5 years for that reef to get back its health. With coral poaching you literally destroy the reef which is like bulldozing through a forest. Given that these reefs are quite sensitive it will take longer than 5 years to get that ecosystem back in shape.

Here's a video from The Coral Triangle website which would hopefully influence you to protect our marine life and the environment in general.
