Best Twitter Guides

Here's an article which lists down how to best use Twitter for marketing and personal use. I believe that local companies haven't really fully embraced the use of Twitter. Smart and Globe tried to use this for customer service. Initially it worked since they replied quite quickly to complaints but as the local Twitter users increased their response time has been quite slow. Locally I find the best Twitter is the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority) simply because it gives useful information about the traffic situation. I also see them reply quickly to questions about the traffic in Metro Manila.

In Twitter, you really have to give people a very good reason to follow you. In the case of the MMDA everyone wants to know about the traffic situation. But for a brand you have to create something really compelling to generate followers. Right now the companies making the most of Twitter are the local networks since people crave for information - news, showbiz and gossip. Not surprisingly it's showbiz and news personalities that get most followers. Just as an example Anne Curtis has over 500,000 followers on Twitter.

Here's a good case study on how to use Twitter effectively.

This article would definitely be useful if you want to use Twitter as a marketing platform. Cheap and easy to set-up but quite tricky to really effective.
