I am a firm believer in SEO and SEM. I don't think local marketing people consider SEO very important but this infographic seems to show that there are a lot of big business into SEO worldwide.

Video: Word of Mouth and the Internet
Here's a video from Google emphasizing the importance of search. According to them, even with all the hype of social media search still plays an important role. After hearing the brand through word of mouth, or by whatever channel, people would tend to do searches to get more information. I agree though. I think digital agencies downplay the power of search and SEO in their strategy and rely too much on social media and their glamorous online advertising strategies. SEO and search is a down and dirty but effective strategy to help brands online.

Three 2010 SEO Trends to Look Out For: Social Media, Onpage SEO & Link Diversity
There are many things several SEO professionals are talking about on how SEO will be in 2010 where from one person to another, the priorities vary. I am not saying one person is more correct from the other, but SEO has always been a do and observe type of science and art and everyone will always have their own opinion about it. As long as you have an open mind to new ideas, backed up with your own testing by doing your own experiments, and continuously sharing with other SEO professionals, you will get a good pulse of what’s coming in 2010. As for me, this is what I believe will be coming in 2010, read more on the 2010 search trends below.

Top Digital Trends for 2010
This article by Brian Morissey taken from Adweek.com
2. The End of the Digital Agency.
There won't be a moment when the invisible line dividing digital and traditional agencies is completely erased. But 2010 will see the distinction blur to the point of being meaningless. The Great Race, as Forrester Research calls it, pits digital shops looking to hone their branding chops against traditional agencies adding tech skills. More digital agencies will compete for (and sometimes win) through-the-line assignments, and more clients will be willing to choose a lead agency based on which of its roster shops comes to the table with the best idea.
Continue with the article here.
I particularly chose #2 on the list since this was discussed in one of our meetings that we need to be able to provide the complete servicing needs for our clients. I am very confident that our company can address this issue locally

Why do I Blog
Since I work for an online advertising agency making a website marketable is always part of our objective. So the best way to learn is actually to practice what we preach. This is why I try to embrace all the social media around me. I am always on Facebook and Twitter where you can see how people react on each others status messages. If you were on the net during the Ondoy and Pepeng calamities you'd realize how much information was being passed around in these social networks.
I daresay that I got my information faster on the web than on TV or even on news websites. The downside though is that those information on these site are sometimes unreliable. So, we have to be wary of passing information around.
Anyway, this blog will be a learning resource for me and hopefully I can earn some money from it. I can also use this platform to help on our search engine optimization and online reputation management projects.
At this point I am really just throwing a lot of content into this blog to help it become more visible on the internet space - and this is not easy.

The first entry
Being in the digital marketing industry I need to expose myself and use the tools we use for our clients. As such, I am now officially starting my blog. I actually set-up this blog late 2008, I think it was either November or December when I set this up and it is only now that I am actually putting something on it.
I have actually tried several times to start this blog but I never had the guts to actually post. It was only through the prompting of our SEO guru Raymond that I actually start this. In fact, the whole team should each have a blog. We are 5 in the team and I think 2 out of the 5 have their own blog. These blog would eventually play a vital role in helping our SEO efforts for our clients.
We usually analyze our clients online presence before we go for a first meeting. I guess it might be good to start with that as my first blog. An online and gadget audit for myself since these are somewhat related.
My online presence:
1. Email audit (pseudo emails not included)
- 2 yahoo emails (checked everyday since one is my messenger)
- 1 gmail (checked about every other day)
- 1 hotmail (has a messenger account but not used)
- 2 work emails
2. Social Networking Sites
- Facebook
- Friendster
- Multiply
- Twitter (newbie)
3. Blogs
- Multiply (rarely post)
- Blogspot (1st post)
4. Most Visited Sites
- yahoo - for NBA Fantasy
- Gameface - UAAP Season
- MTC - for you know what
- local newpaper sites occasionally
- iTunes/Limewire
Gadgets
1. Laptop (personal and office)
2. Mobile phones (Smart and Globe)
3. iTouch
4. Digicam
