Social Innovation

Some things I'd really like to do is support entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship. I'd like to have my own business and social enterprise in the near future and hopefully encourage others to do the same. I came across this video on social innovation which will definitely be of use here in the Philippines.

Just a realization, I probably don't need to be successful on my to be able to help people fulfill their entrepreneurship dreams...

His social business model is different but in the end of the day as long at it helps the poor I guess it will work. In his model they simply invest to start it and once they get a return they simply get it back. In the social enterprise models I've seen here everybody including the owners should earn a profit. It's still a business after all. The business should contribute to the community where it is based and make the people from the community earn from the business and the investors should also earn as well as long as the business continues.

Chris Anderson: How web video powers global innovation

The web is indeed changing the world and it's making learning from each other much easier. The ideas about crowd collaboration and innovation is certainly not new but this talk made me more aware how internet and web video enables people to learn from each other.

With the shortage of teachers here in the Philippines I think web enabled learning and interaction can help the education system here. I think it's just a matter of creating a new system of learning and placing the correct infrastructure. I'll definitely put this on my bucket list.
