It has been proven by the Mueller report in the US that Russia influenced the elections by paying for,and creating fake posts and news posted on Facebook. I tend to believe that this is the new strategy of powers like Russia and China to push influence on leaders of certain countries. I do not see it too far fetched that it was the Chinese who wanted the current president of the Philippines to win. With the sudden surge of Chinese business and tourists locally the Chinese seem to have a keen interest to influence and corrupt local politicians.
I'm still not confident that Facebook can do a good job to get rid of these powerful fake news posts but removing 200 pages mostly from the current political leaders is a good start.
