Here's a summary below. But if you'd like to go directly to the article click here.
1. It's precisely targeted - you can target you ads by gender, age, interests, location (country at least) and if they post these details - interests, education, etc.
2. You can reach consumers directly - 500 million users of Facebook with 50% logging in everyday why wouldn't you want to be there. In the Philippines there are 12.2M users and we are now the 7th most populous nation on Facebook (we are 6th on Twitter). The strategy is expanding your presence on the net and FB is one very effective way to talk to consumers.
3. You can reach out to other businesses - if you can reach out to consumers you can reach out to businesses as well. There are already some case studies on success stories of businesses on FB. Click here for one of my blogs about it.
4. Encourage brand recognition - because you can use images and photos you can enhance and build brand equity on the fan page
5. Tweak, test and analyze -just like any other page on the web FB gives you an insights page to show you statistics on your fan page. This give you a chance to constantly see the results of your efforts.
6. Keep an eye on your budget - again this is the strength of online marketing, it's flexible. You can easily adjust the ad spend depending on you budget
7. Facebook is where the traffic is - mentioned this already and they have beaten Google as the number 1 most visited page on the net.
