With almost 13 million Filipinos on Facebook creating a page for your business should now be part of your marketing mix. You simply have to browse or search through Facebook to see how many big brands are now utilizing Facebook as a platform for marketing. Some notable local brands are:
1. Starbucks Philippines
2. Globe
3. Smart
4. Adidas
5. San Miguel Pale Pilsen
6. Greenwich
7. Ayala Malls (all their malls)
Some of those I mentioned are actually client of ours (shameless plug) and FB is always part of our digital marketing proposal. Just some of the reasons why we recommend this is because of the following:
- almost 13 million Filipinos (as mentioned above)
- it's technically free to set-up (unless you want to embed your site on it - which we also recommend)
=> this helps drive traffic to your actual site
- once you have your fan base you essentially have that much people you can talk to on a regular basis (posts are automatically streamed to the fan base)
- with the popularity of Smart phones you can also hit these fans on their mobile
- it's the best opportunity to engage your consumers
Placing your company on FB is not that easy though. You really have to take time to build, engage and monitor your page. Sometimes it's quite tricky managing a fan page but I feel if done properly this can do wonders for your company or brand.
I always tell my clients that the best way to learn how to manage fan pages is to simply observe what other companies are doing. Depending on your brand and product people can engage with you differently so there is no definitive answer. With the nature of social networks there is really no way to predict how people will engage with your company. We just have to observe, learn, implement, engage, adjust, learn, engage again.
